Search for Common Ground, Partners in Humanity News Service delivers e-mail articles promoting understanding and constructive discussion between the Muslim world and the West.

 

Youth Exchange and Study Program established by the US Department of State's Bureau for Educational and Cultural Affairs, it offers scholarships to bring high school students from countries with significant Moslem populations to the US for one year of study.

CIA Factbook on Iran Bare-bones facts, but a useful start.
Library of Congress profile of Iran The State Department maintains "Country Study" papers, which profile their subjects from historical, cultural, political, economic, and national security points of view. Iran's is well developed, with quite detailed information about the country.

Persian Calendar Program Translate Persian dates to Gregorian and vice versa. The Persian calendar spans across a cycle of four full seasons starting with the first day of spring. The first six months all have 31 days and the second six 30, with the last having 29 days in non-leap years.

American Groups

Conflict Resolution Iran This organization is called "Search for Common Ground" and it began in 1982. With a staff of about 370 people, they have decentralized programs in different countries to support cooperation and resolve conflict. This page describes their programs in Iran.
American Iranian Council Princeton, NJ, based group supporting dialogue with Iran. Lots of corporate support with a board of directors that reads like an American corporation. Organization seems short on programs and that its main emphasis is networking specific interest groups currently excluded from power in Iran.
National Iranian American Council A higher-standard interest group lobbying effort.
